Proper Deck Cleaners on Old Decks

Once a deck appears old it is time to restore it. When it comes to wood restoration, using the proper deck cleaners is very necessary. The proper deck cleaners will ensure that all of the contaminants in the wood are removed such as dirt and mildew. Using only water pressure to clean the wood may appear to be changing the appearance of the wood, but it will not be completely cleaned.

The biggest factor in the wood restoration job being a success, is preparing the wood properly before applying a wood deck sealer. The number one reason a deck stain fails, no matter how expensive it may have been, is improper wood preparation.

The proper deck cleaners will also dissolve and remove any old sealer that may still be in the wood. This is also extremely important so that the new sealer can penetrate and adhere to the wood like it is suppose to do. If an old failing deck sealer is present, the new sealer won’t be able get to the wood.

The new sealer will try to adhere to the old sealer resulting in a peeling and flaking mess in as little as a few months. At this point the wood restoration job will be that much more tedious and expensive to do correctly.
